The Newburgh Sharks is a non profit competitive swim team that was established in 1972 by Chris Townsend. The Sharks have been a proud member of USA Swimming since 1977 and achieved Silver Medal Club Status in 2005 and Bronze Medal Club Status in 2006.

The Newburgh Sharks have a long and proud tradition as one of the most successful competitive swim programs in the Hudson Valley. Alumni include Junior National, Senior National, and Olympic Trial qualifiers, as well as countless individuals who have gone on to compete successfully at the Division I,II, and III Collegiate Level. The Newburgh Sharks also have cultivated a unique and successful relationship with High School teams and coaches in the area. Alumni include countless State Champions and swimmers who have achieved All-American status.

The Sharks are a competitive swim team whose goal is to help our swimmers reach their maximum potential in the sport of swimming through hard work, dedication, and commitment to training. These characteristics not only lead to success in the pool, but also instill important values to create passionate, respectable, and successful individuals later in life.
